According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, former University of Alabama quarterback Parker McLeod will transfer to Western Kentucky.

An early enrollee in the 2013 recruiting class, McLeod didn’t play in a game and only attempted one pass in the spring A-Day scrimmage, which was intercepted.

The Marietta, Ga., product who redshirted last season asked for permission to be released from his scholarship after spring practices.

McLeod was initially listed a three-star recruit and the No. 37 pro-style quarterback in the country in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Even with the departure of McLeod and walk-on Luke Del Rio to Oregon State, Alabama still has a lot of depth at the position. Transfer Jacob Coker and Blake Sims are expected to compete for the starting job during fall camp, while the Crimson Tide also has redshirt freshman Cooper Bateman, sophomore Alec Morris and true freshman David Cornwell.
