Alabama got back to the practice field on Monday after 10 days off for spring break. With the return to the gridiron, there are reports of the coaching staff getting creative with talented playmaker Kenyan Drake.

Working his way back from injury, the Drake, listed as a running back, spent time working out with Alabama’s wide receivers, according to reports from outlets such as AL.com and the Anniston (Ala.) Star.

The Crimson Tide have a talented and crowded running back stable heading into 2015, so finding ways to use Drake that don’t involve him lining up in the backfield could be a major boon to the offense. Drake split out wide on occasion in his five games last year. He had touchdown catches of 39 and 87 yards and finished seventh on the team in receiving yards despite his shortened season.

Derrick Henry is expected to be the starter and workhorse at running back, with help from Drake and a host of others. Tyren Jones is currently suspended, but Bo Scarborough waits in the wings to make an impact after sitting out last year, while Desherrius Flowers is on campus as an early enrollee. They’ll be joined by No. 1 2015 running back Damien Harris this fall.
