While he garnered rave reviews in practice, no one expected QB Jalen Hurts to have the season that he did.

The true freshman out of Texas led Alabama to an SEC Title — in addition to a No. 1 standing for the entire season. Statistically, Hurts has thrown for 2,592 yards and 22 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 841 yards and 12 touchdowns.

18-year-old first-year players don’t put up these sort of numbers very often — especially at the mecca of the sport. A certain bet for all-conference honors, Hurts will look to lead Alabama to another National Title.

After the game on Saturday, Hurts spoke with reporters. This was a special occurrence for all parties involved. Per an Alabama program policy, true freshmen are not allowed to speak to the media.

The SEC Championship Game has an open locker room — which allows for the media to come in and interview players. AL.com provided this great interview with the youngster signal-caller.

At this point in the season, no one considers Hurts a true freshman.
