The Arkansas Razorbacks’ offense proved many wrong last season.

Quarterback Brandon Allen threw for 3,400 yards and 30 touchdowns, thanks in part to new offensive coordinator Dan Enos. Although the Hogs are known for their physical running game, the ability to strike down the field was impressive, especially when many thought it couldn’t be done.

So, who’s going to replace Allen this year?

The sentiment seems to be that Allen’s brother, Austin, will get the nod. He’s the most experienced quarterback the program has, but he’s not the “best pure passer,” according to Enos. That distinction belongs to redshirt sophomore Rafe Peavey, via ESPN.

“Probably the best pure passer as far as arm strength and ability to get the ball down the field,” Enos told ESPN about Peavey. “Really good feet. A guy that works hard. But tremendous arm strength.”

Austin Allen is competing against Peavey, freshman Ty Storey and Ricky Town, the USC transfer.

Enos, however, did say that Allen, who is the projected starter at this point, was a combination of all the quarterbacks.

“A combination of all of them. He’s a really good passer, really good arm strength, good mobility, a really hard worker and he really has a good grasp of what we’re doing too.”
