Ryan Nanni of SBNation recently came up with a new award that, at worst, could reasonably be considered the greatest idea in college football.

It’s called the Piesman Trophy, and it seeks to acknowledge offensive and defensive linemen for very non-linemen plays. It even has a voting committee consisting of 24 members who will try to keep track of this season’s best unorthodox linemen plays.

Think a Vince Wilfork run into the end zone or a scoop-and-score off a fumble. We’ll gladly take a highlight reel of these plays.

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema apparently thinks the Piesman is a good idea too, going as far to criticize the Piesman Trophy for not including himself on the voting committee.

Bielema does have a point. His Arkansas program continuously produces some of the best offensive linemen in the SEC. Those include Sebastian Tretola, who threw a touchdown against UAB last season.

Despite Bielema’s current absence from the Piesman voting committee, Arkansas fans should be fine with the gargantuan offensive linemen Bielema is turning out in Fayetteville. Most college teams would gladly take the Razorbacks front five, even if they don’t make any Piesman-worthy plays this season.

Which linemen do you think have a chance to win this year’s Piesman Trophy?
