Darren McFadden and his longtime business manager are on icy terms.

According to The Dallas Morning News, the former Arkansas running back and current Dallas Cowboys player filed a $15 million lawsuit Tuesday against Michael Vick of Mabelvale, Arkansas, and 10 unknown other parties known as “Doe.” The lawsuit states that $3 million of McFadden’s cash disappeared in a bitcoin business venture.

Here’s how McFadden shared his side of the story to The Dallas Morning News:

McFadden told The Dallas Morning News on Thursday from Valley Ranch that he hired Vick – not the NFL player – coming out of Arkansas in 2008 before the Oakland Raiders made him the fourth overall pick.

McFadden said Vick was “an old family friend that we knew growing up forever and ended up trusting him to do my finances and it didn’t work out right for me.

“It’s just one of those deals with me as a young guy I wasn’t on top of my finances like I should have been and I trusted somebody to take care of everything for me and I don’t feel like at the time he had my best interest.”

Vick told The Associated Press on Thursday he hadn’t seen the lawsuit and declined comment.

According to The Associated Press story, the lawsuit was filed in federal court in Little Rock, Ark.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out, but $3 million is a bunch of money to fumble away. It sounds like McFadden knows he should have kept a closer eye on his finances.

Consider this a tough lesson to gain.
