If kids mean as much to Cam Newton as it seems, this should hit home for the Carolina Panthers quarterback.

Stephen Graham, who’s only 8 years old, wanted to make sure his favorite player wasn’t taking the loss in Super Bowl 50 too hard because, come on, it’s only the Super Bowl, right?

Graham spoke with Xavier Walton of NBC Charlotte, telling him that he wrote Newton a letter, and he did it because he didn’t see him smile after the game.

“Dear Cam Newton, I’m sorry you lost, but here is a paper trofy.”

It’s only fitting that a kid finally gave back to the football-giving Newton. Graham added some words of wisdom.

“When a friend falls down, the other friend always picks him up,” said Graham.
