The wait is over.

Auburn’s Nick Marshall has been invited to the Senior Bowl as a quarterback and will play for the South team, according to AL.com’s Brandon Marcello.

Several project that if Marshall will make an NFL roster it will be as a defensive back, not a quarterback, but the Senior Bowl week will be great for Marshall and for scouts to see what he’s got as a signal caller.

While many break Marshall down as a passer and talk about his flaws, he boasts a strong arm and a very accurate deep ball. However, concerns remain about his decision making, how he translates to the pocket at the next level and whether he can complete shorter to intermediate routes at a high percentage.

Marshall threw for 2,532 yards and 20 touchdowns with seven interceptions in 2014, while also adding 798 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground in Gus Malzahn’s offense. Last spring, Auburn offensive quarterback Rhett Lashlee said Marshall was talented enough to play quarterback in the NFL.

He’ll get his chance to prove it during the Senior Bowl week and, likely, the NFL Combine.
