It’s never a good thing to see when kickers can’t come through for their teams with the game on the line, but we saw a lot of that on Sunday in the NFL.

Cleveland Browns PK Zane Gonzalez missed an extra point during their matchup with the New Orleans Saints, and then missed a potential game-tying field goal attempt that dropped the Browns to 0-1-1 to start the season.

The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings also had their fair share of missed field goals in their game on Sunday, which ended in a 29-29 tie.

Former Auburn PK Daniel Carlson was one of those kickers who struggled mightily.

The Vikings were down a touchdown late in the second quarter and were driving down the field, looking to cut the deficit before the halftime break. The drive stalled at the Green Bay 30-yard line, and Carlson came on for a 48-yard attempt. He missed however, sailing the kick wide right.

Sadly, this was just the beginning of Carlson’s problems.

The game went to overtime, and the Vikings were awarded first possession. Under QB Kirk Cousins’ guidance, Minnesota drove 40 yards before it was again time for Carlson to come on the field. He missed a 49-yard attempt, and gave the Packers possession with a chance to put the game away.

Minnesota’s defense stood their ground though, and Green Bay was forced to punt the ball away.

It looks like Carlson would have his chance at redemption.

The Vikings drove over 60 yards before time started to run out, and Carlson came out yet again for a field goal attempt, a 35-yard attempt that would win Minnesota the game.

The snap was good, the hold perfect, but Carlson sailed the kick wide right, and the game ended in a tie.
