New Troy head coach — and former Auburn OC — Chip Lindsey has tapped into his AU family connections once again.

Lindsey hired Auburn staffer Cole Weeks as an on-the-field assistant for the Trojans. Weeks spent the last two years as a graduate assistant at Auburn working with the QBs. His exact role on the Trojans staff is not known yet.

“The opportunity to coach at Troy and work with a man like Coach Lindsey is humbling,” Weeks said in a statement. “I am eager to get started and build on the tradition and success of Troy football.”

Weeks played QB for Lindsey when the Troy head coach was the OC at Southern Miss in 2014. Weeks threw for 761 yards and two TDs during that season. Prior to his stint at Auburn, Weeks coached the QBs at Jones County Community College.

“I’ve had the opportunity to see Cole mature from a player to a coach, and he is one of the rising stars in this profession,” Lindsey said in a release. “Cole commanded the respect of his teammates during his playing days at Southern Miss and those leadership characteristics have followed him now as a coach.”

Recently, Lindsey hired former Auburn center Ryan Pugh to be the Trojans new OC.
