Vince Dooley

Dooley is one of college football’s greatest coaches. He spent his entire career in the SEC, spending eight seasons as an assistant at Auburn and then 25 years as the head coach at Georgia.

Dooley is a coaching legend in Athens. He won six SEC titles and a national championship during his 25-year tenure as head coach of the Bulldogs. Five times he was named SEC Coach of the Year, and he won the Walter Camp Coach of the Year and Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year awards once.

He began his coaching career in 1956 as an assistant coach at Auburn, where he played quarterback. Dooley was offered the head coaching job at Auburn after Shug Jordan retired but declined it and was hired at Georgia. He compiled a 201-77-10 record with the Bulldogs.
