Born and raised in Baldwin County Alabama. My older brother beat Auburn into me and I would not have had it any other way. I'm a real fan and whether my team goes 0-11 I'm still screaming WAR D*** EAGLE!!

The first fumble loss was a bad call. Payne rear end hit the ground before the ball was fumbled but I'm not going to blame the loss on that. Auburn overlooked A&M and paid the price. Auburn has one of the best rush defenses in football and got ran all over. But if Au wins out and Miss St. Loses to Bama and Ole Miss Auburn wins the tiebreaker BC of strength of their cross division schedule. So if they win in Atlanta how could Auburn who has the hardest schedule in football not go to the playoff? Northern haters that's how. In my opinion any 2 loss sec west team deserves to go bc they too have played a harder schedule than anyone else from any other conference. And the big 12 not playing a conference championship should absolutely not help that conference champ bc the sec plays one. That's an extra quality game they have to play while the "small 12" does not. Anyone agree?
I've been listening to doubters my whole life and its always just went out the other ear. Payne in the eyes of a lot of Auburn fans just wasn't good enough but now he leads the SEC in rushing and he still isn't getting the attention he deserves. But that's fine with me because just like last year everyone overlooks us until we run it down their throat.
granted georgia has not won a championship in a bit but people seem to forget that they were in the "real" national championship just two years ago and would have done to Notre Dame exactly what Alabama did. Georgia is recruiting great and now that Tracy Rockerer is on their staff I only see their defensive line getting better.
I don't know there's any hope for the Dawgs quarterback but I think Missouri's quarterback will turn out to be a great player and maybe make a Heisman run in the next year or two. I remember how good Mock looked at the beginning of last season and he was only 18 years old so if I was a Missouri fan I wouldn't be jumping ship on Matty just yet.
I would like to think Auburn getting screwed in 2004 had a lot to do with this playoff.
I would like to thank Auburn getting screwed in 2004 had a lot to do with this playoff.
I'm telling my phone what to say so excuse the errors please
I don't see any reason why Notre Dame couldn get up for the one game they play all season. with that being said it is ridiculous for them to more than likely get in the playoff if they were to go undefeated when any two loss SEC West team would have earned their way in and have played a harder schedule in one season than ND would play in 3 years put together. it's close to working out the way I would like it which is to have 3 SEC teams in the playoff. there hasn't been much talk of a three way tie in the West but it could definitely happen and that would give Auburn the automatic way in the SEC Championship because of cross division strength of schedule. that is if Auburn can win out and that is easier said than done being that they had the hardest schedule in the nation. Assuming that a West team would win in Atlanta it would be really messed up if the two teams that lost the tiebreaker didn't get to go in that playoff but I'm sure someone will get screwed if that happens. I don't want to see any SEC team that has had a brutal schedule like the West has in particular get screwed out because of this small playoff which does not fix things because the SEC is so stacked ultimately it will canabalize itself from having multiple teams in even though a two loss SEC West team deserves to be there over any other school. strength of schedule should count 100% on who gets in and if a team has a week schedule and is undefeated well that's just tough. its sad that ultimately what makes you proud to be an SEC fan is what could keep your team out of a playoff. if anything the SEC should be rewarded but instead someone will get screwed and if not this season the next. you have the big 12 not playing a conference championship anymore so that should put Oklahoma or Baylor on the back burner even if they were to be undefeated because if they can't step up and play a conference championship the 2 SEC teams that get in shouldn't be hurt because they have to play an extra game against a quality opponent. yes everyones not going to have to have a conference championship a loss in the SEC championship game should not be counted against them at all. say whoever represent the east has a miracle game and can pull it off that would definitely keep the 2 teams that lose a tie breaker out and dad just is not right. I want a full playoffs and if they can do that the s_e_c should break off and have their own playoffs and crown whoever wins it national champion and I don't think anyone could really dispute it unless you were from up north and who cares about what they think anyway. Go SEC and WAR DA** EAGLE!!!
This is off subject but since the guys in the media have dropped the ball by misinforming the fans I will bring it up. The obviously ignorant media is saying that any one loss team in the West needs the team that beat them to lose two to get into the SEC championship game and more importantly the playoff and they are flat out wrong. I will use Auburn in my example because they are my team but Alabama could also be involved assuming they win today. A three way tie in the West is very possible. All you need is the team that beat you to lose to a team that you beat leaving head to head play as the deciding factor like in a two way tie out of the equation. If Auburn wins out which would mean they beat Ole Miss and Ole Miss beats Mississippi State there is a dilemma because someone is going to get screwed assuming that whoever represents the west wins the conference. I do not know how they would decide who gets to go to Atlanta but the two teams that get held out should not have their chances of being in the playoff hurt one bit. To begin with there should be three teams from the SEC west automatically in bc of the strength of schedule our boys are playing and for a Notre Dame team who plays only two ranked opponents maybe 3 to get let in if they go undefeated is ridiculous. A 2 loss SEC West team would still have more wins over ranked opponents than Notre Dame and without a doubt have proved themselves to be a better team. And it's not like Notre Dame can use the excuse of having a weak conference because they are an independent school and could have just as strong a schedule as anyone if they wanted but they know they would never come out alive if they played an SEC schedule. There is no doubt this little playoff make things better but still the problem is not solved. What this has created is for the SEC especially now that they have added two teams to cannibalize itself. What makes the SEC so special could now come with a heavy price for multiple teams who have worked harder and played more quality teams in one season than at least 2 of the teams that will get in the playoff play in three seasons. The SEC Championship could end up destroying a team's chances when conference's like the big 12 do not have a championship game anymore even though they have many quality teams in the conference. Sorry I have gotten on a rant but this is very possible and is just a matter before it happens. It's not fair to the players first and foremost and its not fair to the fans.
what you are referring to is face guarding which should not be a penalty even in the pros in my opinion and at best if it were a penalty it should have been offset by offensive pass interference . the penalty against Sammy was even more horrific. When the defencive back is pushing and grabbing you the whole time you are running your route but instead is a flag on Sammy when all he did was get the guy off of his arm. A push off would require the defensive back losing momentum abruptly and that is not what happened.
there have been countless drops this season which have affected his percentage quite a bit. there were five drops in the Kansas State game alone and then you also have to take into account the horrible flags that have been thrown by the one against coats which took away a 69 yard reception.
Amen! we won't have to blitz near as much which will give more support in pass coverage.
late field goal attempts in the national championship had nothing to do with Auburn losing the game. but I'm sure if we would have won it he would be called a genius by the same guy saying it was bad play calling. they lost the game because of a cramp kickoff coverage plain and simple. not sure why the kickoffs weren't going to the back of the end zone like they had all season but every other return was covered with perfection. and alburn player get a cramp in the guy took that lane plain and simple just like any one would. but all this talk about should've would've could've and if not for whatever play calling the game would have been different is ridiculous and people that make those kind of commentsare the worst types of fansand reminds me more what an Alabama fan would say more than anything. If Mason would have taken a knee at 1 yard line and let the clock run they would have won the game too but I guess that's bad coaching also
how can anyone say Marshall is the best running back on the team when Payne is doing better than tre Mason at this point compared to last year. Auburn has a plethora of running backs and that was just a dumb comment
Yeah that probably will change but there's always an idiot that wants to say teams beat ranked teams that are no longer ranked. I agree with the column except I believe Auburn should be number 1 because their hardest games are on the road and they play Georgia. South Carolina may have slipped but they are still a very good team and if Kansas State beats Oklahoma today that will prove my case even more so.
