EDIT: Make that 3 national titles, forgot about the one in 77, and it was 1969 when they played their first bowl game in 50+ years.
Some one should tell Notre Dame that they have only won 2 national championships since they didn't play in bowl games until the late 60s, I think 1968, because it was an exhibition game that interfered with Spring classes. In the end you cannot do anything to change the mind of contrarian people.
I'll stick with the facts and leave you to your erroneous opinions.
Alabama has 10 national championships in the AP Era, post 1936, nine AP championships and one UPI(i.e., Coaches Poll). This is stated clear as day on the NCAA website, so no claiming is needed for Bama's championship in 64.
It is funny how people like to say that Bama didn't win the national championship in 64 because they lost an exhibition game, aka a bowl game. I hate to break it to you that bowl games back then were in fact exhibition games and to prove it just look at Notre Dame, they didnt play in bowl game for 40 years because it interfered with school. When the NCAA lists them as national champions they were national champions. Notre Dame wins a national championship in 66 and doesn't even play in a bowl game and no one bats an eye.....SMH
I would also like to point out that Nussmeier/Mcelwain can actually develop their QBs. Coach Boom's guys obviously could not.
How is Jay Barker and Gene Stallings not on here with a record of 35-2-1 from 92 to 94? I know the NCAA vacated the victories in 93 but that still does not take away what they did on the field! The 92 National Championship and SEC Championship. He may be the least gifted QB on the list but he was the winningest, on the field, QB on the list!
@DD2 What exactly is your definition of a dynasty? I am in my late 30s and Alabama has won 6 national championships in my life time. Only school that even close is Miami with 5. If you are trolling just to troll then that's okay but in this case you are clearly wrong or have been horribly mislead. Also I would like to point out that a lot of die hard Bama fans only count post AP Era championships and Bama still leads with 10 championships per the NCAA. Notre Dame is the closest to Bama at 8 championships in the AP Era. I think when you average a national title every 8 years, the dynasty or tradition of winning, or whatever you want to call it is clearly not done.
It specifically says "Of the 29 former NFL linebackers inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame". Kevin Greene is not in the Hall of Fame.
I agree in a sense. One thing you have to remember, is that Bama might possibly have the best defensive line in the history of Alabama next year, it will be most definitely the best in college football. So Bama should see an insane pass rush which will make those DBs look like really really good.
