The Florida Gators picked up a late addition to its 2018 recruiting class Sunday, and it’s a big pick up in more ways than one, too.

JUCO LB Umstead Sanders (6-foot-2, 240 lbs) committed to the Gators as a preferred walk-on and could earn a scholarship this fall. He’ll report to Florida in June. Sanders, from Port Saint Joe, Florida, previously attended Hinds Community College, and it appeared that Texas A&M was the school to beat for his commitment.

Not only do the Gators need LB depth, but Sanders’ brother, Trey Sanders, is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 RB for the class of 2019. The younger Sanders attends the IMG Academy and is ranked as the nation’s No. 6 overall player for the class of 2019, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. The duo visited Florida this past weekend.

Will Sanders’ commitment help with his younger brother? Time will only tell, but this is certainly a positive for Dan Mullen and the Gators.
