Florida freshman quarterback Feleipe Franks took reps with the second team offense, while graduate transfer Austin Appleby practiced with the first team Tuesday.

Franks is currently on pace to redshirt, which would effectively be burned if he participates in Saturday’s game against South Carolina. The freshman rated as a four-star prospect and ranked as the No. 5 pro-style quarterback, No. 9 player from the state of Florida and No. 54 overall prospect for the 2016 national recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Appleby has appeared in four games and made two starts. The graduate transfer has thrown for 470 yards, three touchdowns and one interception on 44 of 72 passing and also recorded 28 rushing yards on 11 attempts.

Both quarterbacks look to replace injured starter Luke Del Rio, who head coach Jim McElwain revealed would miss Florida’s next game during his press conference Monday.
