Florida is off to a 2-1 start this season, but the Gators lost their only conference game thus far when they lost to Kentucky in Week 2.

If they bounce back to have a big year, then coach Dan Mullen could be getting a big payday.

On Monday, Florida released the details of Mullen’s contract, which was agreed to when he was hired and finalized last week.

Here are some of the details of the deal, per Will Sammon of The Athletic:

  • $6,103,000 annual salary
  • School’s buyout if $12 million if Mullen is fired without cause. 50 percent would be paid out within 30 days of firing and the rest would be paid in installments over six years.
  • $2 million buyout to leave
  • Bonuses: $400,000 for national championship, $200,000 for SEC championship and $100,000 for any bowl game

According to Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel, in Mullen’s $36.6 million contract, $700,000 comes from equipment-related compensation and $350,000 comes from the school’s contract with Nike.

Mullen will certainly be making a lot of money in the future. Now, it’ll be interesting to see if he can lead the Gators to the results they were hoping for when the school signed him to the deal.
