2014 Louisiana Monroe vs Kentucky
The Kentucky Wildcats fell behind Louisiana-Monroe 14-3 through one quarter of their 2014 showdown, but the Cats responded with 45 unanswered points to finish off a convincing 48-14 victory in Lexington.
Kentucky senior wideout Javess Blue sparked the comeback with an 83-yard catch and run for a touchdown in the second quarter, pulling UK within four points on the scoreboard. On the Warhawks’ next drive, quarterback Pete Thomas threw an interception right into the chest of Kentucky linebacker Josh Forrest, who returned the interception 29 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
Blue would score a second touchdown on an amazing one-handed catch in the second half, and the defense would score a second touchdown as well on Marcus McWilson’s 36-yard pick six. It was the defense’s first two touchdown performance since 2008.
Wildcats’ tailback Stanley “Boom” Williams had his first career 100-yard performance, leading the team with 104 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Only six Wildcats caught passes for the game, and no UK skill player caught more than four passes all afternoon.
The Kentucky defense held ULM to just 264 yards of total offense, including just 77 yards on the ground.
