With a week left in spring practice, coach Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs went ahead and handed out awards for the 15-practice offseason period.

Most notably, Georgia named sixth-year senior Kolton Houston as the MVP. The offensive line again should be the tip of the spear for the entire Bulldogs team, hammering out a path for Nick Chubb and the team’s other running backs.

Also interesting is the “hustle award” given to former UAB standout Jake Ganus. Listed at just 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds last season, many questioned whether Ganus has the size, speed and physicality to start at inside linebacker in the SEC. But he appears to be pushing Tim Kimbrough and Reggie Carter very hard for a starting job.

Ganus will be a key guy to watch in Saturday’s G-Day game.
