Jacob Eason: third teamer? Don’t get used to it.

UGA’s five-star freshman quarterback Eason is working with the third-team offense this spring in Athens. Returners Greyson Lambert and Brice Ramsey are working with the ones and twos respectively, but that doesn’t mean it will stay that way throughout 2016.

“Because of the way we practice and our structure, we can’t get reps perfectly saying this guy’s with the ones or twos,” Kirby Smart said, via the Macon Telegraph. “Jacob’s throwing with the one receivers, they all roll in there. When it comes to o-line and team periods, it’s been those (Lambert and Ramsey) rolling in there with the ones and twos.”

While Lambert and Ramsey will help bridge a gap for Eason, it’s clear that the Lake Stevens, Washington, prospect is the future.

It’s apparent Smart and offensive coordinator Jim Chaney are taking it slowly and making sure Eason doesn’t get too much thrown at him at the start of his career.

Everyone in the SEC is interested to see how Eason progresses throughout this spring and coming season. For now, however, Eason is still learning the ropes with the third-team offense.
