The start to former Kentucky pass rusher Bud Dupree’s NFL career isn’t going as planned.

Relatively inefficient through two preseason games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the first-round pick was thrown out of practice on Tuesday by coach Mike Tomlin following two separate fighting incidents with teammates.

According to Steelers reporter Bryan DeArdo, Dupree first went after offensive linemen Marcus Gilbert on a routine play. Gilbert, a fifth-year vet, wasn’t letting the rookie get the best of him after being tangled up and Dupree took the bait, going after guard Ramon Foster as well.

After being separated by members of the coaching staff and linebacker James Harrison, Dupree fought with Gilbert again during 1-on-1 drills resulting in Tomlin’s intervention.

Earlier this week, Tomlin stressed that he wanted to see his players become more aggressive on the practice field.

He didn’t envision what happened on Wednesday.
