Kentucky has had a season of historic accomplishments already this season, but this week against Vanderbilt, there’s room for one more.

The Wildcats haven’t won an SEC game as a top-15 team since 1977. Long-time fans may remember that the late ’70s were a golden era for UK football. This current stretch of 11 wins in three seasons is the most since a similar 11-win stretch from 1977-79.

The Wildcats are ranked No. 14 this week in the Associated Press poll.

A win would make UK 4-1 in SEC, which would be the best five-game SEC start since the Wildcats went 5-0 in 1977.

Having already vanquished the Florida losing streak, the Wildcats are looking for more history. UK is 7-3 in its last 10 SEC home games, which has tied its best start in the history of Kroger Field/Commonwealth Stadium. The program was also 7-3 from 1974-77.

The Wildcats and Commodores are set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday on the SEC Network.
