Kentucky coach Mark Stoops wasn’t very happy Monday.

That was obvious when he called into Kentucky Sports Radio to discuss the Wildcats’ most recent loss, their fourth straight.

“Not very happy with the way the past few games have gone,” Stoops told KySportsRadio host Matt Jones. “Disappointed. Frustrated. … For us it’s on to the next opponent.”

The Wildcats sit in an all too familiar position as they ended 2014 on a long losing streak as well, six games. Fortunately, Kentucky’s remaining opponents are a combined 10-17.

“(I’m) not (nor is the team) very happy with how we are playing, but that doesn’t mean the sky’s falling down either,” said Stoops.

The Wildcats may have to do a little soul-searching to figure out what’s gone wrong after starting the season 4-1.

“Have we improved overall? Yes. Overall we’ve improved. Not the past couple of weeks,” he said. “I think the frustration is why we have not played well the past couple of the weeks.”

Despite the losing streak, Stoops’ frustration seems to stem from a Lexington community that wants the football program to be built as quickly as John Calipari assembles his top ranked basketball teams year-after-year.

Sorry Kentucky fans, it’s just not that easy. Especially in the SEC.

“Rally the Blue Nation. Get everybody on the same page. It is what it is. Quit hanging your head. It is what it is. … It’s very difficult. You think everybody can do this? We will be fine. Nobody panic,” Stoops said.

With three regular season games left, it will be interesting to see what changes the coach makes to an offense that has been really struggling lately. Many are calling for him to take a shot on their second-string freshman quarterback Drew Barker.

“Whoever gives us the best chance to go into Vandy and give us a chance to win will play,” Stoops said.

The Wildcats need to beat a Vanderbilt team that’s one just one conference game.
