The lawsuit between LSU and its former defensive coordinator, John Chavis, is over with.

It was dismissed on Friday, according to documents obtained by The Advocate in Baton Rouge.

Chavis and LSU have been battling in court for around 30 months, the report stated, over a $400,000 buyout that LSU said Chavis owed for leaving to take the defensive coordinator job at Texas A&M in 2014.

Apparently, LSU said Chavis left before the buyout clause in his contract ended, which Chavis disputed.

The Advocate reported that Chavis and LSU were working towards a settlement last week, which has likely been reached.

“Attorneys involved in the suit either did not respond to messages for comment or declined comment Monday,” the report stated. “The two parties filed a joint motion to dismiss the lawsuit last week. It was signed by a judge Friday.”

Chavis claimed that LSU owes him unpaid vacation wages, as well as other monetary sums.
