Mississippi State has started 3-0 in the first season of the Joe Moorhead era. But that’s not the only reason why Bulldogs players are a fan of their new coach.

They also like Moorhead’s expectations.

“I like his attitude, I like the way he brought the championship standard,” defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons said in a clip shared by Mississippi State on Twitter. “That’s the standard around here now, everybody, we’re looking to win a championship right now.”

The Bulldogs are off to a good start.

They have won games against Stephen F. Austin, Kansas State and Louisiana-Lafayette. But the challenging part of their schedule is still yet to come.

If Mississippi State is going to win the SEC championship — or the national title — it will likely have to perform well during the stretch in which it plays Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M and Alabama over a span of five games.

This week, the Bulldogs play their first conference game of the season when they travel to Kentucky on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
