It’s becoming an annual ritual.

One week Mississippi State is considered one of the 25 best teams in college football. The next week it isn’t.

This is one of those good weeks for the Bulldogs (8-3), which leveraged a huge day from Dak Prescott to skim past Arkansas, 51-50.

The Associated Press Top 25 has slotted Mississippi State at No. 23, and the Coaches Poll at No. 22.

The team picked to finish last in the SEC West will do no worse than 4-4 in the conference this season and currently is tied for third in the division. If the team loses the Egg Bowl to Mississippi State, though, coach Dan Mullen could find them out of the top 25 once again entering bowl season.

Either way, the team’s fringe top 25 status is impressive considering preseason expectations. And beat Ole Miss and perform well in a bowl game and a top 15 finish is possible.
