Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell is running again.

Less than four months after a horrific injury, Treadwell took to the Manning Center and sprinted the width of the field.

Treadwell dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula stretching for the goal line on a potential game-winning touchdown against Auburn on Nov. 1.

He previously took to Instagram to post a video of himself running on a treadmill, but it appears this is the first time he’s sprinted across solid ground. Denzel Nkemdiche, who broke his ankle, also makes an appearance in the video.

Both players are expected to be fine once the season kicks off in the fall, but it’s always encouraging to see such talented members of the 2015 Rebels appearing on track to recover, which is never a guarantee. We recently ranked Treadwell as the fourth-best returning receiver in the SEC and Nkemdiche as the eighth-best returning linebacker in the SEC.

Treadwell, listed at 6-foot-2 and 229 pounds last year, caught 120 passes in less than two seasons. He’s the clear No. 1 option on offense for the Rebels, who appear to be counting on junior college transfer and erstwhile Clemson quarterback Chad Kelly to stay out of trouble and absorb the offense.

The Kelly-Treadwell combo looks more and more certain as we head toward spring practice with the quarterback remaining on the team and the receiver getting healthier. It’s still not guaranteed, but if it comes to fruition could rival Auburn’s Jeremy Johnson and Duke Williams, among others, as the best QB-WR combo in the SEC in 2015.
