Last month, the Minnesota Vikings spent their first-round pick (No. 23 overall) in the NFL draft on former Ole Miss star wide receiver Laquon Treadwell — a move that, so far, seems to be sitting well with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

It’s a small sample size — just two practices, to be exact — but Bridgewater believes that the addition of Treadwell to an ailing receiver corps (and a struggling passing game in general) could be “big” for the team moving forward, particularly in the upcoming 2016 season.

“He’s going to be big for this team,” Bridgewater told Vikings.com after Tuesday’s voluntary workout. “There’s a reason that we drafted him in the first round.”

In 2015, Treadwell led the entire SEC with 1,153 yards receiving off 82 catches (14.1 average) and 11 touchdowns.

“He’s been here with us for two days now, and he’s been looking good,” said Bridgewater. “I’m not qualified to judge players and things like that, but from what I’ve been seeing, I’ve been pretty impressed.”

Despite Bridgewater’s 88.7 QB rating as a second-year quarterback in the league last season, Minnesota finished with the league’s second-to-last (No. 31) passing yards average with a mere 183.0 yards per game and just 14 touchdowns through the air.

The Vikings are hoping that a Bridgewater-Treadwell connection develops into one of the NFL’s most productive dynamic duos this fall and for years to come.
