We’ve reached the Top 15 of our Top 100 SEC players list and will unveil a new player daily leading up to opening night on Aug. 28.

12. Ramik Wilson, Sr., LB, Georgia

One of the SEC’s best instinctive players, Wilson stepped into a starting role for the first time in his career last season and was the league’s top linebacker with 133 total tackles, the third Bulldog ever to accomplish that feat. He totaled 10 or more stops five different times including a career-high 18 tackles at Auburn. The face of Georgia’s defense, Wilson returned to practice for the first time during fall camp Wednesday for precautionary reasons resulting from a concussion.

Wilson will have much of the player-coach burden this fall as the anchor of a front seven loaded at the linebacker position but thin on depth at the back end. He’ll likely play at the inside spot next season in the NFL, but first has an Eastern Division title to win after skipping a chance at leaving school one year early. Wilson doesn’t have any weaknesses in his game and will be a defensive player of the year candidate with another 100-plus tackle campaign.

2013 statistics: 133 total tackles
2014 projection: 121 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss
