Within Week 5, fans are starting to see more games featuring two teams within the SEC, which means we’re officially getting into the meat of the SEC schedule. The combination of that plus several teams with a bye week this weekend and it only gives us seven games to choose from as the SEC’s most interesting.

Despite the fewer amount of games, we still selected a few that should catch the attention of any SEC fan this weekend.

Tennessee vs Georgia (Saturday on ESPN – 12 p.m.)

The lowdown: Kicking off the SEC action for Week 5 will be a classic SEC East rivalry between the Tennessee Vols and Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia comes into this game as a 17-point favorite, so Vegas doesn’t expect this one to be close, but don’t count on it when these two teams get together. The Bulldogs may be a much more talented team at this point than the Vols, but usually those kinds of things get thrown out the window in rivalry games.

This will be Tennessee’s first SEC action of the season. They are improved for a year ago, but with a road loss against top-five ranked Oklahoma as their only blemish, no one quite knows just how competitive they’ll be in the SEC East this season. Saturday’s matchup will certainly provide a good measure for Tennessee and an upset win for the Vols would shake up the SEC race in a big way.

Arkansas vs Texas A&M (Saturday on CBS – 3:30 p.m.)

The lowdown: Arguably the marquee matchup of the SEC this weekend, Arkansas and Texas A&M square off in the Southwest Classic inside the enormous AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Hogs are playing about as well as anyone during their three-game win streak, while Texas A&M has been cruising against cupcake opponents since their season-opening win against South Carolina.

The biggest questions will reside with the defenses. How will Arkansas’ secondary stop Texas A&M’s pass defense? How will Texas A&M’s front seven stop Arkansas’ punishing running attack? It figures to be a high-scoring game as both teams are the top two scoring offenses in the SEC and top-five in all of college football.

Missouri vs South Carolina (Saturday on ESPN – 7 p.m.)

The lowdown: This matchup definitely would have had a little more intrigue if it weren’t for Missouri’s shocking home loss to Indiana last weekend. Regardless, Columbia will still be the site of College GameDay and Missouri has the talent to pull off the upset on the road against No. 13 South Carolina. Quarterback Maty Mauk and the Tigers passing attack will test a woeful South Carolina pass defense. Running back Russell Hansbrough should also provide the front seven of South Carolina with some issues at the line of scrimmage.

The Gamecocks will be a tough out at home, especially at night in Williams-Brice Stadium. As up-and-down as South Carolina has been, they’re still a good football team and currently in the driver’s seat for the SEC East title. Much like Tennessee at Georgia, a Missouri win in Columbia would only make this open SEC East race even more of a crapshoot.
