That lasted about as long as one of the company’s world-famous duck calls.

One year after sponsoring the SEC-affiliated Independence Bowl and appearing on College GameDay, Duck Commander is pulling out of college football.

“We’ve enjoyed our sponsorship of the 2014 bowl, but think it is time for another sponsor to take the lead,” said Willie Robertson, CEO of Duck Commander, according to a Monroe, La., CBS affiliate.

South Carolina won the lone game sponsored by the business venture behind the family featured on “Duck Dynasty,” a popular reality TV show featuring the long-bearded Louisianans.

Robertson served as GameDay’s gust picker for an October game in Baton Rouge between Ole Miss and LSU.

The CBS affiliate called the news “a mutually agreed upon decision,” and the Independence Bowl will look for a new corporate sponsor.

Those hoping that the Duck Commander Bowl one day would rival the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in history and Southern culture must be very disappointed.
