All 14 SEC schools have been well represented in the NFL draft through the years, but which schools have produced the most NFL talent at which positions?

We aimed to answer that very question by sifting through each team’s all-time draft selections since the 2000 NFL draft, and the results were somewhat surprising.

For example, people often rave about the defensive back talent LSU produces on an annual basis, which is why some might be surprised that LSU has actually had as many receivers drafted since 2000 as it had defensive backs.

A handful of schools, like Alabama and Mississippi State, sent more defensive tackles to the NFL than any other position, and Ole Miss’ best-represented position group in the NFL draft has been offensive tackles. Neither position is known to elevate players to superstar status, which is why it may seem unusual for SEC programs to have a majority of its talent at those spots.

Nevertheless, wide receiver was the position group from which most SEC programs have produced the most NFL talent. Surprisingly, only one team had its greatest pool of NFL talent in the backfield, that being Auburn, which has the SEC’s leading rusher each of the last two years.

Take a look at the full results for each team below, and don’t forget to tune into this year’s NFL draft, beginning Thursday night, to see which former SEC stars are picked.
