Is there such a thing as an easy road game in the SEC?

Sure, every SEC team hosts a few cupcakes each year, but there’s no sure-thing victory in SEC play, except maybe against Vanderbilt.

RELATED: Toughest home schedules in the SEC this season

Let’s look at the five teams with the easiest true road schedules. Considering how much tougher the SEC West appears to be than the East, you can guess where the majority lean is here.

5. Auburn

Schedule: Sept. 19 at LSU, Oct. 15 at Kentucky, Oct. 24 at Arkansas, Nov. 7 at Texas A&M.
Opponents’ combined 2014 record: 28-23 (.549)

Overview: Auburn has the benefit of not having to play itself, which no other SEC West team can boast. And it gets to host Alabama. Obviously it’s never easy to win at LSU, but the Tigers have major quarterback questions. Auburn throttled LSU 41-7 last year. Arkansas was last in the SEC West last season at 2-6 — Auburn beat the Hogs 45-21 — and A&M one above at 3-5. Not included is the neutral-site opener against Louisville in Atlanta, which should be mostly Auburn fans. It may not be Auburn’s last game at the Georgia Dome this season, either.

4. Texas A&M

Schedule: Oct. 24 at Ole Miss, Nov. 21 at Vanderbilt, Nov. 28 at LSU.
Opponents’ combined 2014 record: 20-18 (.526)

Overview: At least the Aggies get a bit of a break on the road in that they have to host both Alabama and Auburn this season. Ole Miss and LSU are two good teams that could take the West. But those aren’t unwinnable games for A&M. Plus the Aggies get to face SEC East doormat Vandy so that barely counts as a road game. But clearly the beauty here is only three road games because A&M faces Arizona State on Sept. 5 in Houston and Arkansas on Sept. 26 in Arlington. So the Aggies should have the majority of the fan support in those. If those were true home games, then Texas A&M would be No. 1 on this list too.

3. Kentucky

Schedule: Sept. 12 at South Carolina, Oct. 24 at Mississippi State, Nov. 7 at Georgia, Nov. 14 at Vanderbilt.
Opponents’ combined 2014 record: 30-21 (.588)

Overview: Can the Wildcats get back to a bowl game this season for the first time since 2010? Coach Mark Stoops has recruited well at UK, but the results haven’t shown much on the field yet. The team gets a of a break because South Carolina is going to have to go all out in its season opener against North Carolina. Kentucky can perhaps save some things in its Week 1 game against Louisiana-Lafayette. UK also gets a few extra days to prepare for Mississippi State as the Cats play on Thursday, Oct. 15, the game before that. The trip to Georgia should no doubt result in a loss, but the game at Vandy is winnable.

2. Missouri

Schedule: Sept. 12 at Arkansas State, Sept. 26 at Kentucky, Oct. 17 at Georgia, Oct. 24 at Vanderbilt, Nov. 27 at Arkansas.
Opponents’ combined 2014 record: 32-31 (.508)

Overview: Two-time East Division champion Mizzou could and perhaps should be 6-0 when it visits East Division favorite Georgia for that Oct. 17 game. The Tigers get Tennessee, South Carolina and Florida at home and their annual crossover opponent is Arkansas instead of Auburn, Alabama or LSU. Not on this schedule is a neutral-site Nov. 14 game against a good BYU squad, but that’s at Arrowhead in Kansas City, so it’s essentially a Missouri home game.

1. Florida

Schedule: Sept. 19 at Kentucky, Oct. 10 at Missouri, Oct. 17 at LSU, Nov. 14 at South Carolina
Opponents’ combined 2014 record: 31-21 (.596)

Overview: Yes, I’m well aware the combined 2014 winning percentage of the Gators’ opponents is the highest on this list. But that’s last year. Florida gets a break in that it doesn’t have to go Athens to face Georgia every other year, instead playing UGA before a split crowd in Jacksonville every year. The only reason I don’t rank Florida’s schedule as harder than Missouri’s or Kentucky’s is that the Tigers and Wildcats do have to go to Georgia. If the Gators can split back-to-back games at Missouri and LSU, they could have a shot in the SEC East. UF also gets Tennessee and crossover opponent Ole Miss at home and rival Florida State.
