The SEC is loaded with fan favorites — players who are not only talented but have garnered unmatched popularity throughout the conference no matter what team they play for.

Not every player can fit this mold, but these five guys certainly fit the bill. Take a look at our five most popular players returning to the SEC in 2015:

1. Nick Chubb: Chubb was as fun to watch as any player in the SEC during his freshman campaign in 2014, making him an immediate fan favorite even outside of the state of Georgia. His heavy workload and physical running style, matched by his consistent success as Todd Gurley’s replacement, made him easy to love, and for every hard yard earned and defender run over his popularity only increased further. Many see Chubb as potentially the best returning back in the SEC, and certainly as the most popular at the position.

2. Leonard Fournette: Fournette was the top recruit in the nation in 2014, and although his rookie season got off to a slow start he developed into the workhorse many expected him to be. Like Chubb, his physical running style is a treat to watch, and his lack of fear in any situation only heightens the enjoyment fans feel when he plays. Unlike Chubb, however, he has name recognition as a former top recruit that makes him easy to love even for the most casual of fans.

3. Dak Prescott: Prescott was the best quarterback in the SEC last season, coming out of nowhere to serve as the heroic leader of the SEC’s darling story in 2014 — Mississippi State’s 10-win season. He was named the first-team All-SEC quarterback and finished in the top 10 in Heisman voting, and the quiet superstar who went about his job the right way became an easy figure for fans to love and adore. His decision to pass on the NFL in favor of one final year at MSU rewarded those fans, who see the move as mature and even more lovable as we enter 2015.

4. Joshua Dobbs: The Volunteers season took off once Dobbs took over as the starting quarterback, and as his thrilling dual-threat abilities led the resurgence of one of the SEC’s most historic programs, making him easy for fans of the conference to root for. Granted, plenty of SEC fans consider themselves rivals of Tennessee, but Dobbs’ electrifying skill set was simply too fun to watch for fans to shrug at, and his return as the full-time starter in 2015 has many of us anticipating great things in Knoxville.

5. Myles Garrett: Texas A&M’s star freshman pass rusher took the SEC by storm, recording 5.5 sacks in his first three college games on his way to eventually setting a new freshman sacks record with 11.5 on the year. His physically dominating skill set was a treat to watch, and his accolade-filled rookie season had fans falling in love with the Aggies monster in the trenches. He’ll receive more attention from opposing offensive lines in 2015, but still stands to be one of the biggest defensive playmakers returning in the conference.
