Week 14 is consistently among the best of the season every year. The SEC is brimming with contentious rivalries, both within the conference and in-state showdowns.

What will everyone be talking about come Monday?

Texas A&M gets in the Will Muschamp sweepstakes. Mark Snyder was “relieved of his duties” on Friday — a nice way of firing him — and the natural fit is the currently unemployed Will Muschamp. Coach Boom has ties to Texas from his days with the Longhorns and he’s well-respected around the conference despite his failures at Florida. The thought of the Aggies with a top-notch defense is scary.

Blake Sims proves he’s the SEC’s best quarterback. Auburn’s defense is stumbling, and the Tigers are walking into a beehive facing Alabama’s potent offense in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Sims has quietly been one of the best passers in the country all season, and he’ll make sure everyone knows it as Alabama lets loose on their rivals.

Mississippi State states its case. Back in October, the Egg Bowl was shaping up to be a play-in for the playoffs. Unfortunately, Ole Miss has fallen off, and that’s to State’s benefit. The Bulldogs sit No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings, and they’ll need to rely on their resume to hang onto their spot if they don’t end up in the SEC Championship game. Dan Mullen’s crew will come out with a point to prove in Oxford and take care of the school up north.

Georgia blasts Georgia Tech to show everyone they were the East’s best this year. Missouri’s comeback win against Arkansas ended the Bulldogs’ hopes of making it to Atlanta. That leaves Georgia with nothing but pride to play for in their rivalry game, as well as a shot at a New Year’s Six bowl. Georgia will grab that chance by the throat and out-run the Yellow Jackets for a rivalry win.
