Earlier tonight, the Southeastern Conference handed out its weekly football honors to the top performers from this past week of SEC football.

Here are the following Week 9 award winners.

Co-offensive player of the week

Josh Robinson, RB, Mississippi State

Whenever a team is on the road, it’s always important to lean on the ground game. And Mississippi State’s Josh Robinson came through in the clutch. On 23 carries, Robinson rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns, including a score that came off a 73-yard touchdown run. What’s most impressive is how tough it was to bring him down — 142 of his 198 rushing yards came after contact.

Co-offensive player of the week

Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama

For the SEC’s best wide receiver, even his performance this past weekend was incredible. Setting a school record with 224 receiving yards, Amari Cooper absolutely torched Tennessee’s defense in Alabama’s 34-20 win. He hauled in nine catches and added two touchdowns on his first two receptions of the game. Cooper is now second nationally with 1,132 receiving yards.

Defensive player of the week

Kendell Beckwith, LB, LSU

The sophomore linebacker has played a lot of positions throughout his career, but he seems to have found a home at middle linebacker. Beckwith led LSU on Saturday night with 10 tackles and added a tackles for loss, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry to his impressive stat line. He also was the one who stopped Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace on a 4th and 1 sneak attempt, thwarting the Rebels’ comeback attempt late in the fourth quarter.

Special teams player of the week

Will Gleeson, P, Ole Miss

In a defensive struggle, the punter’s value is always amplified. Will Gleeson performed at his best Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, help the Rebels to limit LSU to just 10 points. He pinned four out of six punts inside LSU’s 10-yard line and kept the Tigers from returning a single punt all game.

Freshman of the week

Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

LSU’s highly touted freshman Leonard Fournette continues to improve with every passing week. He posted his third 100-yard rushing game of the season and finished with 211 all-purpose yards. Coming into Saturday’s game, Ole Miss averaged only 94 rushing yards allowed, but Fournette and the LSU rushing attack put up 264 yards on the ground.

Offensive lineman of the week

Sebastian Tretola, OG, Arkansas

While Sebastian Tretola had a great game on the line, the real recognition for Arkansas’ offensive lineman came via his arm. Tretola made a bid to be the Razorbacks’ next starting quarterback when the 350-pound guard lined up in the backfield on a fake field goal. He fired the pass six yards to long snapper Alan D’Appollonio for a touchdown.

Defensive lineman of the week

Kaleb Eulls, DT, Mississippi State

Once again, Mississippi State’s defensive line shined in a big win for the Bulldogs. Kaleb Eulls, a defensive tackle, had a career day against Kentucky, recording a career-high two sacks and five tackles.
