The SEC is known for producing some of the biggest and baddest offensive linemen.

The 2015 recruiting class will help continue that trend as the conference’s premier teams are poised to add some beast blockers.

The tackles usually get most of the credit but the guys on the interior do the dirty work too. Guards and centers can be the difference between the quarterback sitting in the pocket and the pocket sitting on the quarterback.

Here are the best five currently on board in the opinion of Saturday Down South:

1. Maea Teuhema (Keller, Texas) – LSU

  • The skinny: A five-star recruit and the No. 1-rated player in the nation at his position, Teuhema left the Lone Star State to solidify the offensive line in Baton Rouge. Teuhema played guard in high school but could eventually emerge as a tackle for the Tigers.

2. Lester Cotton (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) — Alabama

  • The skinny: Cotton is massive at 6-foot-5, 325 pounds. He’s probably talented enough to start as a freshman, but that rarely happens in Tuscaloosa, where he’ll play some home-town ball. He’s another player who’s versatile enough to move to tackle if that’s a better fit for the team.

3. Richie Petitbon (Washington D.C.) — Alabama

  • The skinny: Football minds know that the foundation for any solid blocker comes from lower-body strength. Petitbon has tree trunks for leg and knows how to put them to good use. He’s a D.C. product who wanted to move down South to play some SEC ball.

4. Zack Bailey (Summerville, S.C.) — South Carolina

  • The skinny: Locking up the No. 1-rated player in your state is the goal of every college football coach. And that’s exactly what the Gamecocks did when they landed Bailey. Bailey has size, strength and a good motor –all traits that the best offensive guards possess.

5. Javon Patterson (Petal, Miss.) — Ole Miss

  • The skinny: The Mississippi native might find himself playing for the hometown school sooner than expected with the recent injury to Rebels sophomore guard Rod Taylor. Ole Miss has two senior guards atop the depth chart right now but Patterson has more raw talent than either them him despite the age difference.
