Over the last week, SDS’ Brad Crawford has been breaking down the top projected stat leaders at six different positions.

Aside from running back, several of these positions have a lack of true star power, much less than most recent years. But the beauty of that is seeing which players will emerge to fill the perceived gaps.

SEC teams have signed the premier talent in the country over the last few years, and those players should announce their presence rather quickly. Several high-octane and wide-open offenses will feature new quarterbacks who should put up some big numbers. 2014 will be the year of the running backs, and the conference is loaded. Todd Gurley, TJ Yeldon and Mike Davis highlight the returning studs.

The big names on defense start with Florida cornerback Vernon Hargreaves, and other such as Florida DE Dante Fowler, Missouri DE Markus Golden, UGA LB Ramik Wilson, Alabama DB Landon Collins and MSU LB Benardrick McKinney will emerge as household names this season.
