Some SEC teams are stockpiling several players at one position.

What is the greatest single-position collection of talent in the conference in the 2015 class, according to the current commitments and enrollees? Glad you asked.

1. Georgia defensive ends

Defensive tackle Trent Thompson may be the prize of the Bulldogs’ 2015 class, but more subtly impressive is the team’s collection of defensive ends. UGA is pulling the consensus national Nos. 5, 8 and 9 at weakside defensive end and Nos. 5 and 15 at strongside defensive end.

The team’s practice squad should be fierce along the line of scrimmage in 2015.

2. South Carolina defensive ends

Life without Jadeveon Clowney and Kelcy Quarles wasn’t pretty for the Gamecocks’ defense. Coordinator Lorenzo Ward must remedy that immediately or look for another job. He’s given himself a great chance at the former by raiding the junior college and prep school ranks to pull out a pair of 6-foot-4 early enrollees with post-high school experience.

South Carolina can rebuild the front seven with this group and should be able to sustain a pass rush once again.

3. Alabama guards

It’s not sexy, but the Tide claim two of the nation’s five best offensive guards. The team’s offensive line has declined from its peak in 2012. Nick Saban’s team can still run the ball well, and the backfield is loaded, but this class should help Alabama get back a nastiness that will be an asset.

4. Arkansas tight ends

The Razorbacks have secured the nation’s No. 6, 8 and 17 tight ends from this year’s class. As if Bret Bielema didn’t have enough returning at the position with Hunter Henry. But when you use a lot of two-tight end sets like Arkansas, you can never have enough.

At least one of the three standouts from the 2015 class should see significant time in 2015.

5. Tennessee quarterbacks

Josh Dobbs will start for the Vols in 2015 barring a disaster, but the team is in crisis mode right now behind him.

Enter a banner crop of quarterbacks, including the nation’s No. 6 and 7 dual-threat players. Two of the three are 6-foot-4 early enrollees that could provide Butch Jones with a reliable backup. These guys fit the Vols’ offense well, assuming it doesn’t change wildly with a new coordinator, and they give Tennessee options when Dobbs leaves in a few years.
