NOTE: The 247SportsESPN 300 and Scout prospect rankings were all considered when forming this list.

1. Martez Ivey, Apopka, Fla.

  • Offers: Florida, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Clemson
  • National Rank: No. 2 247Sports; No. 5 ESPN300; No. 3 Scout
  • The Skinny: Ivey is expected to wait until National Signing Day on Feb. 4 to give his official commitment, but many consider Florida and Auburn to be his top two choices as of this week. He made official visits to both schools during the football season, and he visited Auburn last weekend, although that visit was reportedly nothing more than a trip to visit friend and Auburn early enrollee Chandler Cox. Ivey, an Apopka, Fla., native, will reportedly take an official visit to Florida before the end of the recruitment process, as his official visit to Gainesville in October predates Jim McElwain’s arrival in the Sunshine State.

2. Byron Cowart, Seffner, Fla.

  • Offers: Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Maryland
  • National Rank: No. 3 247Sports; No. 1 ESPN300; No. 8 Scout
  • The Skinny: Cowart is another touted defensive line prospect that Florida is heavily pursuing, sending coaches to meet with his mother at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 15, the first day after the recruiting dead period was listed. Cowart is said to be considering the Gators and fellow in-state powerhouse Florida State, and he has official visits scheduled to both campuses the next two weekends (Florida this weekend, FSU on Jan. 30). Cowart made an official visit to Auburn last weekend, and the Tigers are also considered to be in the running for Cowart’s services with less than three weeks remaining before national signing day.

3. Iman Marshall, Long Beach, Calif.

  • Offers: USC, LSU, Michigan, Florida State, Notre Dame
  • National Rank: No. 4 247Sports; No. 4 ESPN300; No. 7 Scout
  • The Skinny: The five-star cornerback prospect is still weighing his options among a number of schools from all across the country and throughout a number of different conferences. He had an official visit to Florida State scheduled for last weekend and has official visits to LSU and Oregon planned for the final two weekends of the month. However, he squeezed in a visit to Jim Harbaugh and Michigan among those other visits earlier this week, showing the Wolverines new head coach has already made an impression on the star defensive back. LSU will benefit from having a defensive coordinator (Kevin Steele) in place prior to Marshall’s visit, but the Tigers are among a large handful of teams still vying for the touted recruit.

4. CeCe Jefferson, Glen Saint Mary, Fla.

  • Offers: Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Florida
  • National Rank: No. 7 247Sports; No. 9 ESPN300; No. 13 Scout
  • The Skinny: Jefferson is only considering SEC schools at this juncture of his recruiting process, and as of this week Ole Miss and Florida are considered to be his frontrunners. He visited Auburn last weekend, along with a host of other four- and five-star recruits, and according to recent reports there’s a chance that Jefferson, Cowart and fellow touted prospect Jeffery Holland could make themselves a package deal. Cowart told AL.com “We’re going to stick together,” referring to the trio, adding “we’ll all play at the same school, because we know we can make an impact. One guy can’t make a difference at a school, and I don’t think people understand that.” Jefferson still has an official visit to LSU scheduled for Jan. 30, during which time Cowart will be visiting FSU and Holland will be staying home.

5. Terry Beckner Jr., East St. Louis, Ill.

  • Offers: Missouri, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida State, LSU
  • National Rank: No. 13 247Sports; No. 2 ESPN300; No. 40 Scout
  • The Skinny: Beckner’s stock has risen on the big boards at the top recruiting services, and the race to earn his commitment has begun to heat up as a result. Beckner was another star who made a visit to Auburn last weekend, and he has visits to Ohio State and Missouri scheduled for later in the month. His high school coach, Frank Cusumano, tweeted last week that Mizzou remains the frontrunner to land Beckner, citing the program’s propensity for producing NFL-caliber defensive linemen. However, Cowart has not given any updates of his own regarding where he is leading at this point in his recruitment process.
