Released Saturday by the Cleveland Browns, undrafted quarterback Connor Shaw signed a practice squad deal with his former team Sunday afternoon.

A three-year starter at South Carolina, Shaw never lost a home game and was the program’s all-time winningest quarterback.

He battled for Cleveland’s third-string spot behind Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel, but didn’t see much playing time during the preseason. He finished with 123 yards passing and a touchdown and rushed for 29 yards in two appearances.

As a practice squad player, Shaw’s free to sign with any NFL team.

Three other former Gamecocks were also signed to practice squads over the weekend: Defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles (New England), cornerback Jimmy Legree (Arizona) and guard Ronald Patrick (Dallas).
