Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio is doing everything he can to collect support in South Carolina, so he’s calling on the support of a Gamecocks football legend.

Former South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw will join Rubio on the campaign trail as the state’s primary looms this Saturday.

The tweeter, Peter Hamby of Snapchat, questions Shaw’s “legend” status, but he’s certainly worthy of being called a school legend.

Shaw played for the Gamecocks from 2010-13, when he became the winningest quarterback in school history while going 27-5 (.844) in his college career. He also went 17-0 as a starter at home while in Columbia.

He’s currently on the Cleveland Browns roster, having made one start in which he went 14-for-28 passing for 177 yards and an interception at the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 28 of that year.
