If South Carolina loses to North Carolina tonight in Charlotte, it could spell doom for Steve Spurrier’s future.

Paul Finebaum made a strong case for that notion during a live pre-game take Thursday afternoon from Bank of America Stadium alongside college football analysts Danny Kanell and Joey Galloway.

“I think tonight is one of the most important games in Steve Spurrier’s career,” Finebaum said. “If this one goes the same way last year did in Columbia, I think a lot of people in Columbia and around South Carolina football will start asking the question that he tried to knock down all year long.

“Is he too old? Tonight is a must-win for Steve Spurrier.”

Kanell scoffed at the notion.

“To me it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever,” Kanell said. “I think he’s got plenty left. The way he coaches, he can delegate and do it for as long as he wants.”

Countdown to kickoff has begun.
