Before the season, everyone in SEC circles expected South Carolina WR Pharoh Cooper to have a big season.

But South Carolina has underachieved. Its season has been defined by the resignation of Steve Spurrier and the players that have shined have been overshadowed.

While Cooper has been relatively quiet over the last three games with just 107 yards combined, he has posted four games this season with more than 100 yards in receptions. In his biggest game of the year, he had 16o yards against Vanderbilt, the No. 16 defense in the nation.

Cooper ranks third in the SEC in receiving yards behind only Laquon Treadwell and Christian Kirk.

Cooper has managed without a proven quarterback to get him the ball. His stats likely would be better if like he had Chad Kelly or Brandon Allen throwing him the ball.

While he he’s had a good season, it doesn’t look like Cooper will be able to post the numbers he had a season ago. He finished 2014 with 1,136 yards and nine touchdowns.

Regardless, the junior remains the Gamecocks’ biggest weapon on offense.

Cooper’s time is running out in Columbia — he is expected to enter the NFL draft. South Carolina closes the season against The Citadel and Clemson, giving him only two more opportunities with the Gamecocks.
