South Carolina’s playing surface was green and lush for Saturday’s spring game.

By Wednesday, things have turned brown at Williams-Brice Stadium… and that’s OK.

It’s all part of a $995,000 project to install a new drainage system, irrigation and sod, according to a report from The State.

The report states that work is expected to be completed by July, which means the Gamecocks should have access to the field in time to use it during practice in August.

South Carolina hosts East Carolina on Sept. 17 for its home opener.
