Johnny Manziel made his much-anticipated NFL debut Sunday in the third quarter, interrupting a Brian Hoyer-led drive for one play and handing off to undrafted rookie running back Isaiah Crowell.

He also threw incomplete to fullback Ray Agnew on second-and-13 in the fourth quarter, taking two snaps on a crucial drive with the Cleveland Browns trailing by one point.

Hoyer converted a third-and-13 on the next play, eventually leading the offense to a go-ahead touchdown, followed by another drive that led to a last-minute game-winning field goal.

From the AP story about Cleveland’s 26-24 win:

Hoyer went 8 of 11 for 78 yards on the last drive and finished 24 of 40 for 204 yards and a TD. He came out for a few plays as Manziel, the hyped rookie, handed the ball off twice and had one incompletion.

Hoyer wasn’t thrilled about sharing the stage with Manziel.

“If it’s going to help us win, then I’m all for it,” Hoyer said.

Manziel’s jersey still is the most sold in the NFL as of this week. Hoyer looks like a middle-of-the-pack NFL starter. He’s probably better than the No. 1 option for 10-15 teams. Manziel, from everything we know, isn’t. At least not right now. But with Cleveland not expected to win many games, how long before the Heisman Trophy winner and former A&M standout becomes the starter?

Here are the other Week 2 highlights from former Texas A&M players in the NFL.

  • Von Miller made one sack and seven tackles for the Broncos on Sunday, but the team’s defense doesn’t look very dominant right now.
  • Luke Joeckel has started both games at left tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • QB Ryan Tannehill threw nearly 50 passes in a loss to Buffalo, throwing for 241 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
  • Jake Matthews (ankle) did not play for the Falcons against Cincinnati.
  • WR Mike Evans caught all four of his targets for 49 yards, but Tampa Bay lost to St. Louis.
  • TE Martellus Bennett caught seven passes, including one for a touchdown, in Chicago’s win against San Francisco.
  • DE Michael Bennett made five tackles and one sack in a loss to the Chargers.
