Checking the temperatures around the Aggies as they get ready to face Ole Miss.

MICROWAVE OVEN

Speedy Noil. The freshman receiver, who had a speedy recovery (no pun intended) from a knee injury, showed that he can make big plays happen in a flash. While the game was out of reach, he went up high for a Kenny Hill pass and made a crazy catch for a touchdown. He also had a big punt return in the second half that sparked a drive that Noil himself finished off with a touchdown.

RE-HEATING

Myles Garrett. The star freshman defensive end had been held without a sack for two straight games, although he did hurry the quarterback three quarterback three times total against Southern Methodist and Arkansas. He finally broke through a registered a takedown on Dak Prescott last week. Garrett will be needed against Ole Miss’ pass-heavy attack this week, and pressuring Bo Wallace will be crucial.

COLD HANDS

The receiving corps. The Aggies racked up 365 yards through the air and made some spectacular plays against Ole Miss, but it could have been far more. The receiving corps had far too many drops that short-circuited drives, especially early on in the game. Kenny Hill was jumpy in the pocket to begin with due to the pressure he was facing, and seemed to lose confidence in his receivers and missed a few throws following the drops.

ON ICE

Kenny Hill’s Heisman chances…at least until next year. Two straight mediocre performances have dropped Hill from the USA Today Heisman survey. He’d previously been third in the poll. While Hill’s numbers are still stellar, leading the SEC in passing yards and touchdowns, he’s struggled to handle real SEC defenses (South Carolina doesn’t count). Still only a sophomore, Hill will have a great chance to be right back in the conversation next year.
