Texas A&M coaches must report any alleged gender violence or sexual assault information they possess. If they don’t, they could lose their jobs in College Station.

That information comes directly from the contracts of assistants on the Aggies’ staff, which were recently obtained by The Dallas Morning News. Texas A&M doesn’t want any mishandled Title IX cases, so it included this clause in the contracts of its coaches that any pertinent information must be “promptly reported.”

Aggies coaches can report any information they have to three places — the school’s Title IX coordinator, the athletic department’s senior woman coordinator or law enforcement. If coaches fail to do so, they can be fired without receiving damages.

This clause was included in the contracts of offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey, tight ends coach Tim Brewster, defensive ends coach Terry Price and director of football operations Mark Robinson. Not all contracts on the A&M staff have yet been finalized, including that of Jimbo Fisher.

According to The Dallas Morning News, that clause did not appear in contracts with previous staffers, so it must have been added recently. Also, all coaches must have an annual meeting to discuss their roles in Title IX compliance.

This has become an issue throughout college athletics recently, so it’s easy to understand why Texas A&M has added this clause.
