The Tennessee Volunteers (3-3) snapped their three-game losing streak with a 45-10 rout of Chattanooga (3-3) on Saturday. Justin Worley led the Vols with 198 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-24 passing, as well as two scores on a pair of quarterback keepers. Tennessee’s defense held Chattanooga to 202 total yards and a 5-of-14 third down efficiency.

Here are five takeaways from Saturday’s game.

1. Tennessee’s offensive line is still awful: Earlier this week, I made the analogy that Tennessee’s line would be better suited playing in the SoCon. I was wrong, the SoCon would dominate them as Chattanooga did throughout the contest. It amazes me how this team finds new ways to struggle each week, even against a far inferior opponent.

2. Worley enjoyed a bounce back performance: Justin Worley had a bounce back performance. Coming off a season-worst three turnover game against Florida, the senior looked efficient passing. Worley still faced constant pressure thanks to another poor performance from his offensive line.

3. Defense continued to look strong: Tennessee’s defense entered with the FBS’ third-lowest opposing third down percentage. The Vols continued their dominance, granted against a far inferior opponent. Tennessee’s only hope against a tough SEC schedule is to continue its defensive success and hope for an offensive improvement.

4. Lack of depth at running back: Tennessee’s running backs combined for 98 yards on 27 attempts. Leading rusher Jalen Hurd saw just two carries for seven yards after suffering an injury in Week 6. Derrell Scott led the Vols with 42 yards on nine carries, while Justus Pickett added 27 yards on 10 attempts. Tennessee will need Hurd to return at 100 percent moving forward, especially with the rest of its offense struggling.

5.  Jason Croom continues to improve: Jason Croom led Tennessee with 76 yards on six receptions. Croom topped his previous season-best of 60 yards on four catches against Georgia. The sophomore continues to see his targets increase and brings the presence of a big frame receiver to the Vols offense.
