The 2016 season for the Tennessee Volunteers has had an infinite amount of twists and turns — and we’re only half way through.

The dichotomy of excitement and heart-stopping moments could cause any fan of the program to get caught up in the hoopla.

Unfortunately for one fan, it may have led to his demise.

James Herbers, 50, out of Memphis passed away on the day of the loss to Alabama. A big fan of the Tennessee program, his family wrote this in his obituary:

“He loved Cardinals baseball, the city of Memphis, his friends and Phi Delta Theta fraternity brothers, and to play golf and cards with his cousins. Lastly, the Tennessee Volunteers lost one of their biggest fans, even though they may have contributed to the cardiac arrest!”

As we’ve seen throughout the season, the Vols have had multiple come-from-behind victories (some in the last seconds). It’s enough to give any UT fan heart palpitations.

Credit Herbers’s family for having a great sense of humor during this time of sorrow.
