Tennessee will kick off the 2016 college football season on Thursday night, Sept. 1 (7:30 p.m. ET) against Appalachian State in Neyland Stadium, and the university wanted to make sure its students had every opportunity to attend the game.

So, naturally, it canceled classes for the day.

OK, so maybe it was more for parking and traffic accommodations, considering the game was moved up two days from a Saturday kickoff not long ago.

Still, UT students that weren’t football fans probably just became football fans.
